SirQubit, the reason sanctions are put against Iran is to weaken the iranian government because the outside governments are afraid of the iranian government having power. i know it is a vicious cycle; the sanctions make the iranian government more angry which makes the outside governments more fearful and want to increase the sanctions and so on back and forth repeatedly, and nobody knows how it really started. these things start a long time ago and escalate slowly over time like many conflicts.
