I simply love the way Noble takes the engine from a pretty ordinary car, modifies it and uses it to create an absurdly great car. First it was the engine from a Ford Mondeo, now the engine the a Volvo XC90. Amazing.

Incredible. After years of boredom with the 430, gallardo, murcielago and verious GTwhatever porsches, things have just gotten VERY exciting again with this the 458 and the Mclaren MC12. Love the weight of this thing and the lack of nannying electronics. Old fashioned PROPER supercar. I heard they have a 750bhp engine in the works too. 10/10 for the interior also and the traction control switch.

Yup, a lot more. Right now there's a lot of cutting edge stuff getting done in terms of stability control systems. This thing doesn't even have ABS. This isn't an engineering idea, it's a niche marketing idea.

By your reckoning, Mclaren just sticks a mercedes engine in a "light" Formula 1 car - no design skill at all! Alot of the best supercars use engines supplied by other manufacturers. As a Noble M400 owner, this car is the shit. Drove it 4 years ago, and had to have it. This car does compare to worlds best at a fraction of its cost. I was at a Exotic meet last week where a F-50 was present and it had far less creature comforts then me. Sure ferraris have better amenities but Performance bang for its buck, nothing can compare. Crazy acceleration is an understatement

This fight's useless but on B&N's part they made amazon realize they aren't the only ones in the game anymore. PDF support, mobile and pc ebook reader app were just two things that B&N started that amazon had to copy. As far as the amount sold, kindle has been the only real device besides sony's, so of course it would sell more, just give it time. Just leave it to a persons preference will ya? I admit it here and now the amazon kindle is better over all but I still want a nook over the kindle.

I had never heard of the Nook but out of all the eBook reads it certainly looks the best, it looks absolutely beautiful. I must say if I was not getting an iPad I would certainly get a Nook. You are so right about the packaging, it is very in the style of Apple. Think about it: the only benefit you get from this is the fact that it's huge screens will... something. it's not portable, and doing some things might be awkward. Saying the iPad is just an "oversized iPod Touch" is like saying a 24 inch monitor is just an oversized 13 inch monitor. So that argument is moot. And for just a little bit of more money spent on the iPad. You get so much more functionality compared to a Kindle, Nook or any e-reader. Think about it. Web browsing, video capability, email, books, maps and so on.

Hi, Thank you so much for your review. I'm deciding which reader to buy. Kindle2, Sony PRS60 or Nook. They all have its flaws like the Sony low Shades 8 and a little glare, Kindle has all the drawbacks form the content protection and no touchscreen and the Nook seems a bit awkward to deal. They are all in the same price range and I dont know if I should embrace the Sony's touchscreen and accept the low shading and glare or get the Nook. How's the sound quality of the nook? Any thoughts? Thanks!!

The flicker is because it is redrawing the page. Think of it as an etchersketch shaking away the lines you drew. All e-ink screens do that. From what I am hearing the page turns are not due to the e-ink screen itself but the software being buggy. Hopefully they will patch it soon and bring better speeds to page turns as well as eliminate the lag on the touch screen.

I had the nook on preorder (due for Jan. delivery) until I read the NYT and WSJ product reviews last week. Cancelled my preorder and decided to wait 6-12 mos. instead. The sluggish controls and slow page-turn rate which NYT & WSJ complained about were certainly evident in your nicely done demo. These drawbacks (esp. 3-4 sec. page-turn rate) were a real deal killer for me. May come back & buy one later, if these things can be fixed.

Got my nook today. I was concerned about speed and navigation. No problem. The speed of page turning is not an issue when reading. The navigation was easy to adapt to. It is solid and looks good if that matters to you. Most of the little things such as navigation of the shopping site will be easily improved. For reading books, it is great for me. I have almost finished my first book already. I will carry it everywhere.

E-Ink displays always flicker - at least for now. Someday they may not. They use a different technology than regular displays and use practically no juice as they only use it when refreshing the screen. ... The thing your review shows is the lack of responsiveness on the Nook. Several other reviewers said the same thing and it is very distracting during reading. For now, I'll stick with the Kindle which responds quickly. Never see any lag with it. The lag on the Nook would drive me crazy.

the thing with him is that he is very funny and no, he doe nt tell jokes as such, but in a way, his show is just a serires of long, extended story jokes. If u also listen, u can actually begin to make sense of what he's saying and he manages to relate is show to things he said earlier, so he may make a reference to something at the beginning of the show and then reference back to it toward the end or middle! He's a genius, like so many other modern comics that everyone here has said about!

I actually like many Eurocars. I love the old Lancias, such as the Fulvia and the Delta Integrale. The Stratos is beast too. I like Alfas as well. The Brera is a beautiful car. But SSC actually stands for Shelby Super Cars. That's the brand name. It actually has nothing to do with Carroll Shelby, which the name might suggest. Personally, I do not like the Enzo's styling. It may be quick, but it's funny looking.

if u drove the zr1 round a race track u would get a slower lap time than the audi thats for sure it went faster cus the stig can control its oversteer. i'd rather hav a tvr yes it is insane but its a marmite car u either love or u hate and atleast its not made out of plastic like most corvettes are these days and ssc is not a brand its a shelby. The last time an American car won the 24 Hours of Le Mans was 1969 with the Ford GT40. Plus Top Gear did in fact prove the ZR1 turns quicker, because it had a quicker lap time. A TVR does not really know what a turn is. It's a machine for spinouts. But "Owning" in motorsports, effectively speed. The SSC is an exclusive car, only 50 will be produced. How many people have bought Veyrons? Plus unlike a Zonda, the Ultimate Areo can adjust the suspention. SSC is a brand. And any jap-crap is a toy.

Well, since the SSC can turn (better than a Veyron) i think they know what turns are. Subaru and Mitsubishi aren't European (and they call Americans stupid), and GT-R is not a brand, but a model of a Japanese toy. Lambos are nice, but the SSC is way cooler. But if you're still going on turns, then a Corvette ZR1 turns better than an Audi R8 V10, as proven by British chaps. So if a car with Medieval oxcart suspension is quicker in turns that a Eurocar, then I think we know what turns are.
